Shilin Stone Forest, China
The Stone Forest, or Shilin, is a vast area of limestone pinnacles about 90 km east of Kunming, in Yunnan. The tall grey rocks rise from the ground like petrified trees, creating the illusion of a forest of stone. Part of the site is a UNESCO World Heritage Site within the South China Karst.
