Nave of the Palatine Chapel – Palazzo dei Normanni, Palermo

Ancient granite columns with gilded capitals divide the nave from the aisles, under pointed arches covered with mosaics of saints and the painted wooden ceilings. Built by Roger II and consecrated in 1140, the chapel blends Byzantine mosaics, Islamic woodwork and Latin architecture, a symbol of Arab-Norman Palermo, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2015.
