Transept Mosaics of the Palatine Chapel – Palazzo dei Normanni, Palermo

Standing saints and Gospel scenes in gold mosaic fill the walls and arches of the transept, framed by Greek and Latin inscriptions. They belong to the Byzantine decoration commissioned by Roger II around 1143, the oldest part of the chapel's mosaics.
