Map of Egypt – Egnazio Danti and Stefano Bonsignori – Palazzo Vecchio, Florence

The Nile crosses Egypt from the Mediterranean to the tropics among deserts, peoples and wild animals, beside an ornate cartouche. It belongs to the 53 maps painted on the cupboard doors of the Medici wardrobe for Cosimo I, by the cosmographer Egnazio Danti from 1563 and by Stefano Bonsignori after 1575.
