Ceiling of the Sala delle Udienze – Giuliano da Maiano – Palazzo Vecchio, Florence

The carved and gilded coffered ceiling is made of octagons and rosettes on a deep blue ground, a masterpiece of Renaissance woodwork. Giuliano da Maiano and his workshop made it in the 1470s, when the hall was used for the audiences of the priors of the Republic.
