The audience hall of the priors combines Giuliano da Maiano's gilded coffered ceiling with walls entirely painted by Francesco Salviati with the Stories of Furius Camillus, framed by fictive tapestries, statues and garlands. Here the priors and the Gonfaloniere of Justice of the Florentine Republic received citizens and ambassadors; Salviati's frescoes date from 1543–1545.
