At the north end of the hall, the raised dais of the Udienza is articulated by columns and niches holding marble statues of the Medici, beside a painted panel of the ceiling and the Medici coat of arms over a door. Baccio Bandinelli and Giuliano di Baccio d'Agnolo built it from 1542 so that Duke Cosimo I could receive ambassadors and citizens there.
