Thistle – O'Tama Kiyohara – Palazzo dei Normanni, Palermo

A long spiny stem of golden thistle (Scolymus hispanicus) with yellow flowers is painted in watercolour and tempera on a wide sheet. It is one of the works of the Japanese painter O'Tama Kiyohara (1861–1939), wife of the Palermo sculptor Vincenzo Ragusa, shown at the Royal Palace in 2020 from the Palermo museum named after the couple.
