Map of Persia – Egnazio Danti and Stefano Bonsignori – Palazzo Vecchio, Florence

Persia appears between the Caspian Sea («Mare Ircano») and the Persian Gulf, its land covered with golden mountain ranges. It belongs to the 53 maps painted on the cupboard doors of the Medici wardrobe for Cosimo I, by the cosmographer Egnazio Danti from 1563 and by Stefano Bonsignori after 1575.
