Map of Italy – Egnazio Danti and Stefano Bonsignori – Palazzo Vecchio, Florence

The Italian peninsula stretches between the Ligurian and Tyrrhenian Seas and the Adriatic («Mare Hadriaticum»), with Corsica and Sardinia to the west. It belongs to the 53 maps painted on the cupboard doors of the Medici wardrobe for Cosimo I, by the cosmographer Egnazio Danti from 1563 and by Stefano Bonsignori after 1575.
