Map of Greece – Egnazio Danti and Stefano Bonsignori – Palazzo Vecchio, Florence

Greece and its islands spread between the Adriatic and the Aegean, with a river god leaning on a cartouche recalling that the country was once called Hellas. It belongs to the 53 maps painted on the cupboard doors of the Medici wardrobe for Cosimo I, by the cosmographer Egnazio Danti from 1563 and by Stefano Bonsignori after 1575.
