Map of Central Asia – Egnazio Danti and Stefano Bonsignori – Palazzo Vecchio, Florence

Golden mountain ranges and lakes cover Central Asia, from Sogdiana in the north through Khorasan to the coast of the Indian Ocean («Mare Indico»), beside an oval cartouche. It belongs to the 53 maps painted on the cupboard doors of the Medici wardrobe for Cosimo I, by the cosmographer Egnazio Danti from 1563 and by Stefano Bonsignori after 1575.
