The Arabian Peninsula, its mountains painted in gold, lies between the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf, beside a large cartouche framed by strapwork. It belongs to the 53 maps painted on the cupboard doors of the Medici wardrobe for Cosimo I, by the cosmographer Egnazio Danti from 1563 and by Stefano Bonsignori after 1575.
