The Trojan priest Laocoön and his two sons writhe in the coils of the serpents sent by the gods, a full-size copy of the famous ancient group found in Rome in 1506. Baccio Bandinelli carved it in Rome beside the original, finishing it in 1525 for Pope Clement VII, whose emblem appears on the pedestal; it stands at the end of the corridor.
