The marble bust of a young woman with lowered eyes and a smooth, almost abstract face, framed by a close-fitting cap, one of the masterpieces of Renaissance portrait sculpture. It is by Francesco Laurana, who worked in Sicily around 1468–1471, and is traditionally identified as Eleonora of Aragon.
