Beyond the Sala degli Elementi, a series of rooms on the second floor is devoted to the gods of Olympus, with painted ceilings in gilded frames, frescoed walls with large figures and busts on wooden stands. Giorgio Vasari and his assistants, among them Cristofano Gherardi and Marco da Faenza, decorated these private apartments of Cosimo I in 1555–1558.
