The Roman general Furius Camillus rides in triumph on a chariot drawn by white horses, preceded by soldiers carrying the spoils and the images of the gods of conquered Veii. Francesco Salviati painted the Stories of Camillus in the Sala delle Udienze in 1543–1545, one of the masterpieces of Florentine Mannerism, with painted frames imitating tapestries and sculpture.
