The castle from the arrival drive – Serrant Castle

Beyond the sandy drive, pavilions, a wing and a domed tower line up behind the moat, their walls combining dark schist and pale tufa stone. Begun in 1539 for Péan de Brie by the Angevin architect Jean Delespine, the castle was only completed from 1636 by the Bautru family, who kept to the original plan.
