Sala di Penelope – Palazzo Vecchio, Florence

The gilded ceiling is organised around a central tondo of Penelope at her loom, framed by the coats of arms of the Medici and Toledo families and by panels with reclining figures. This room of the apartment of Eleonora of Toledo, painted by Stradano in 1561–1562, celebrates the fidelity of Ulysses' wife as a model for the duchess.
