Sala degli Elementi – Palazzo Vecchio, Florence

The first room of the apartments of the Elements is painted with allegories of Water, Fire and Earth on the walls, framed by monochrome roundels and panels, while Air occupies the coffered ceiling. Giorgio Vasari and Cristofano Gherardi decorated it in 1555–1558 for Cosimo I, opening a cycle in which each room is devoted to a god of antiquity.
