Portinari Triptych – Hugo van der Goes – Uffizi Gallery, Florence

The shepherds and angels adore the newborn Child, while the side panels show the banker Tommaso Portinari and his wife Maria Baroncelli with their children and patron saints. Painted around 1476–1478 in Bruges by Hugo van der Goes for the head of the Medici bank there, it reached Florence by sea in 1483 and deeply influenced Florentine painters.
