Poetry – Raphael, Room of the Segnatura – Vatican Museums

A winged young woman crowned with laurel, holding a lyre and a book, sits among clouds between two putti carrying tablets inscribed Numine afflatur, inspired by the divine spirit. This roundel of the ceiling of the Room of the Segnatura, painted by Raphael in 1508–1511, presides over his Parnassus.
