Bright red young shoots and dark green leaves of Japanese andromeda (Pieris japonica) spread across this watercolour. It is one of the works of the Japanese painter O'Tama Kiyohara (1861–1939), wife of the Palermo sculptor Vincenzo Ragusa, shown at the Royal Palace in 2020 from the Palermo museum named after the couple.
