Map of the Horn of Africa – Egnazio Danti and Stefano Bonsignori – Palazzo Vecchio, Florence

The Horn of Africa, with the kingdoms of Adel and Dancali, the Troglodytes and the Somali coast, is painted in pink and green with an elephant, beside a dark cartouche. It belongs to the 53 maps painted on the cupboard doors of the Medici wardrobe for Cosimo I, by the cosmographer Egnazio Danti from 1563 and by Stefano Bonsignori after 1575.
