Eduardo Arroyo Exhibition – Narrative Paintings – Maeght Foundation, Saint-Paul-de-Vence

Crowded canvases mix a winged angel carrying a woman, a ladder, a bare light bulb and rows of masked faces, a boxer and a pin-up under a street lamp, chairs before patterned curtains and a night street with a dancer in the light. Eduardo Arroyo built his paintings like comic strips or film stills, borrowing from popular imagery, literature and the history of art.
