Allegories of the Florentine Dominion – Giorgio Vasari – Palazzo Vecchio, Florence

Four compartments of the ceiling personify the territories of the Medici state, among them the Casentino with its capital Poppi, the Mugello, Fiesole and the Florentine Romagna, each shown as a reclining figure with its attributes and a Latin inscription. Giorgio Vasari and his assistants painted them in 1563–1565 to show the extent of Cosimo I's dominion.
