The Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, or Monastery of the Caves, founded in 1051, is one of the most important monasteries of Eastern Christianity, with golden-domed churches and underground caves holding the relics of monks. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Photos taken in 2007.
