Under vast classical vaults, Plato and Aristotle walk at the centre of a gathering of ancient philosophers and scholars, including Pythagoras, Euclid and Diogenes, several with the features of Raphael's contemporaries. Raphael painted this fresco in 1509–1511 in the Room of the Segnatura, one of the masterpieces of the High Renaissance.
