The Birth of Venus – Botticelli – Uffizi Gallery, Florence

Venus, born from the sea foam, stands on a shell blown ashore by the winds Zephyr and Aura, while a Hora of spring hurries to cover her with a flowered cloak. Painted by Sandro Botticelli around 1485 and recorded in the Medici villa of Castello in 1550, it is one of the most famous paintings in the world.
