From the upper terrace, the view takes in the white curved roof vaults of the galleries, the tower of the Miró Labyrinth among the pines and the sculpture lawns below. The Catalan architect Josep Lluís Sert, a friend of Miró, designed the Foundation as a 'village' of pavilions, with roofs shaped like inverted vaults to catch rainwater and filter light.
