Painted on both sides, the triptych shows Christ enthroned among angels with Cardinal Stefaneschi kneeling, between the Crucifixion of Saint Peter and the Martyrdom of Saint Paul, above a predella of apostles and the Virgin. Giotto and his workshop made it around 1320 for the high altar of Old Saint Peter's, at the request of Cardinal Jacopo Caetani degli Stefaneschi.
