Pope Sixtus IV, seated, receives the humanist Bartolomeo Platina kneeling before him, surrounded by his nephews including the future Pope Julius II, in a grand classical hall. Melozzo da Forlì painted this fresco around 1477 for the library founded by Sixtus IV; it was detached in 1825 and is in the Vatican Pinacoteca.
