Saint Sebastian – circle of Ercole de' Roberti – Uffizi Gallery, Florence

The powerful, heroic figure of Saint Sebastian stands bound to a column, pierced by arrows, against a dark background. Painted around 1480–1490 by a Ferrarese artist close to Ercole de' Roberti, it was long attributed to Pollaiolo when it hung in the Pitti Palace.
