Portrait of Empress Catherine II – Johann Baptist Lampi the Elder – Hermitage Museum, St Petersburg

The aging empress, in a silver gown with a blue sash, leans on a pedestal beside allegorical figures, idealised by the painter. Painted in 1794 by the Austrian Johann Baptist Lampi the Elder, it is in the Winter Palace.
