Pietà (after Delacroix) – Vincent van Gogh – Vatican Museums

The Virgin, arms outstretched, mourns over the body of Christ at the entrance of the tomb, painted in swirling strokes of blue and yellow after a lithograph of Delacroix's Pietà. Van Gogh painted it in 1889 at the asylum of Saint-Rémy; it was given in 1973 and is in the Collection of Modern Religious Art.
