Perseus swoops down to slay the sea monster to which the princess Andromeda was to be sacrificed, then celebrates the rescue among exotic costumes and imaginary musical instruments. Painted around 1510–1515 for the Strozzi family, this fantastical work by Piero di Cosimo was already in the Tribune of the Uffizi in 1589.
