Niobid – Niobe Room – Uffizi Gallery, Florence

One of the sons and daughters of Niobe, fleeing in terror from the arrows of Apollo and Diana, who killed them to punish their mother's pride. The Roman copies of this Greek group of the 4th century BC, attributed to Scopas or Praxiteles, were found in Rome in 1583 and moved from the Villa Medici to the Uffizi in the 1780s.
