A sea nymph rides side-saddle on a hippocamp, half horse and half fish, long identified with Galatea, beloved of the Cyclops Polyphemus. This 2nd-century AD marble by a Roman workshop, inspired by an early Hellenistic seated Muse, was at the Villa Medici in Rome from 1731.
