At the centre of a large Roman floor mosaic, the bust of the goddess Athena wearing the aegis is set in a blue shield surrounded by the phases of the moon and bands of geometric and plant motifs. This ancient mosaic was laid in the floor of the Hall of the Greek Cross in the Pio-Clementino Museum.
