The elegant Virgin presents the Child, contemplated by angels and by Saints John the Baptist and Jerome with intense, meditative faces. One of Matteo di Giovanni's finest works, painted around 1460–1470, it came to the Uffizi in 1915 from the church of San Sebastiano in Vallepiatta in Siena.
