Nijo Castle, Kyoto, Japan
Nijō Castle, in the centre of Kyoto, was built in 1603 as the Kyoto residence of the Tokugawa shoguns. Its Ninomaru Palace is famous for its "nightingale floors" that squeak to warn of intruders; it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Photos taken in 2010, including the Honmaru Palace and the Ninomaru Garden.
