Ganymede and the Eagle – Roman art – Uffizi Gallery, Florence

The Trojan prince Ganymede stands beside Jupiter, who in the form of an eagle is about to carry him off to Olympus. This marble of the 1st–2nd century AD, after a late Hellenistic model, passed from the Della Valle-Capranica collection to the Villa Medici in Rome and came to Florence in 1780.
