Gallery of Maps – Vatican Museums

A 120-metre gallery whose walls carry 40 painted maps of the regions of Italy and its islands, made in 1580–1585 from drawings by the cartographer Ignazio Danti for Pope Gregory XIII, beneath a gilded vault with stucco and frescoes.
