The vault is covered with grotesques on a white ground, gilded frames, roundels of female figures and putti on sea creatures, around painted scenes of biblical and ancient stories. These 16th-century frescoes survive from the Renaissance palace of the Riario family, where Queen Christina of Sweden lived from 1659 until her death in 1689, before Fuga rebuilt it for the Corsini.
