A marble David stands with one hand on his hip and the head of Goliath at his feet, his body still partly rough from the chisel. Begun by Desiderio da Settignano around 1462–1464 and completed around 1465–1470, perhaps by Bertoldo di Giovanni, it was lent by the National Gallery of Art in Washington.
