A slender, self-assured adolescent in a short leather jerkin stands with his hand on his hip and a short sword, the head of Goliath at his feet. Andrea del Verrocchio cast it in partly gilded bronze around 1468–1470 for the Medici, who sold it to the Signoria in 1476.
