Chaityas – Buddhist votive pillars – Angkor National Museum, Siem Reap

Square sandstone pillars carved on each face with Buddhist figures in niches, erected at the four points of the compass to mark off a sacred precinct. They date from the 13th century, in the Bayon style, and come from Angkor Thom.
