Bronze Birds – Giambologna and Bartolomeo Ammannati – Bargello Museum, Florence

An eagle, an owl, a turkey, falcons and other birds in bronze perch on rocks, each caught in its most characteristic pose. They decorated the Grotto of the Animals at the Medici Villa di Castello: Ammannati and his school cast some in 1558–1559, and Giambologna continued the work from 1567 with livelier finishes.
