Antiquarium – Munich Residenz

Beneath a long barrel vault painted with grotesques, allegories and views of Bavarian towns, ancient and Renaissance busts line the niches and pedestals along the walls, leading to a raised dais at the far end. Built in 1568–1571 for Duke Albrecht V's collection of antiquities, it is the largest Renaissance hall north of the Alps.
