Travelling case of Empress Marie-Louise – Martin-Guillaume Biennais – Munich Residenz

The mahogany case, lined with compartments and an octagonal mirror, holds dozens of silver-gilt, crystal and ivory pieces: basins, cups, candlesticks, flasks, boxes, scissors and toilet instruments. Napoleon's goldsmith Martin-Guillaume Biennais made it in Paris in 1810, the year of the emperor's marriage to Marie-Louise of Austria; it is now in the Treasury of the Residenz.
